Family-School Compacts

As part of our Title I plan, Lakeview Middle School jointly develops, through meaningful consultation with parents, a school-family compact that outlines how families and our school will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the state’s high standards. The school-wide compact stresses the importance of communication between families and teachers. LMS families are given the opportunity to provide compact input through meaningful consultation with school staff throughout the school year. Parents have the opportunity to review and adjust the compact at Parent Advisory Council meetings. Family-School Compacts should be used at home and at school in parent-teacher conferences.

Parents are encouraged to be involved in the development and revision of the Title I programs, including the policy, compact and/or schoolwide plan. If you find any portion of this program unsatisfactory, submit your comments or suggestions to Gina Haynes, Catoosa County Title I Coordinator, at 706-965-2297.

What is the School-Family Compact?

The Title I Compact is now implemented into the Parent Engagement Policy and is no longer a standalone document.  

What is the school’s responsibility?

LMS is committed to providing high-quality curriculum and instruction that enables students served by Title I to meet the state’s challenging academic standards. Our teachers and parent involvement coordinators take part in curriculum nights and workshops that focus on family academic needs. Benchmark data is used to inform families of their student’s academic success. Parent-teacher conferences are held, at least annually, where the school-family compact is discussed. Progress reports are sent each nine week grading period. Families are presented with opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s classroom.

How can teachers and parents communicate?

LMS recognizes the importance of meaningful two-way communication between our teachers and families. Our school utilizes our school website, text messages, social media posts, classroom communication applications, newsletters, notes sent home, input cards online and at meetings. Our Family Resource Room provides information on community opportunities and educational resources for parents. The Parent Involvement Coordinator facilitates communication between parents and school staff.

How can parents support their child’s learning at home?

Families at Lakeview Middle School take responsibility for supporting their child’s learning in the following ways: ensuring student attendance, monitoring school assignments, volunteering at our school, participating in school meetings and surveys, monitoring positive use of extracurricular time and technology.
