Curriculum

Curriculum

  • In the middle school years, Lakeview Middle's curriculum focuses on helping students to become increasingly independent learners and preparing them to succeed in high school and beyond.

  • In Grades 6–8, students deepen their knowledge and skills in four core subjects: History & Geography, Language Arts, Math, and Science.  Lakeview Middle works to help their students:

    • Develop independent learning strategies and study skills.
    • Deepen their reading comprehension and writing skills.
    • Learn advanced math concepts in preparation for higher level math courses.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in several connections courses:

    • Art
    • Band
    • Computer Science / Business Education
    • Chorus
    • Health
    • Family and Consumer Science
    • Physical Education
  • Our framework for learning works to keep middle schoolers interested and engaged with:

    • Projects that apply learning to the real world and are tailored to their interests.
    • Activities that encourage them to think for themselves as they apply what they learn in meaningful ways.
    • Assessments where they use their learning to demonstrate mastery of each concept.
